Individual Health Insurance in Largo
If you buy your own coverage, you deserve a straight answer about what a plan really costs to use. One advisor compares options from several carriers with you, explains the trade-offs in plain words and stays your contact after you enroll.
Coverage for one person, with one advisor beside you
An individual plan is health coverage you buy for yourself instead of getting it from an employer. It suits freelancers and business owners, part-time workers, people who retired early, people between jobs and anyone whose employer doesn't offer insurance.
Finding a list of plans takes minutes. Figuring out which one covers your doctors and prescriptions at a cost you can actually handle takes more work. Meet us at our office, or talk by phone or video if that's easier. Either way, the same advisor handles your questions from the first call through enrollment and is still there once you're covered.
There's no charge for the consultation. The carrier offering the plan you pick pays us, so having us go over your choices adds nothing to your cost.
How we help
- Starting with the care you use
- We begin by asking about your doctors, the medications you take and how often you expect to see someone. Those answers reveal more than a plan brochure can.
- Plans lined up next to each other
- Plans from several carriers sit together in one view, with premium, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum and copays set out so the differences are plain to see.
- Confirming networks
- We find out if your doctors and local hospitals are in each plan's network, and we explain in practical terms how HMO, EPO and PPO plans differ.
- Savings you might be eligible for
- When your income qualifies you for a premium tax credit, we show what it does to the monthly cost. Our ACA Marketplace Plans page goes deeper on that topic.
- Help with the application
- Once you choose a plan, we work through the application with you section by section. Your information goes in correctly and you know the exact date your coverage starts.
- A familiar contact later on
- A confusing bill, a renewal notice or a change in income all go to the same advisor you started with.
When it makes sense to shop for your own plan
Your job and its benefits are ending
Leaving a job with coverage generally opens a special enrollment window, usually 60 days. COBRA is an option, though it may cost much more than an individual plan.
You started working for yourself
People new to freelancing or running a small business often go months uninsured because sorting through plans feels like too much. Going without is a real risk.
Your premium went up
Your carrier's annual letter might list a higher monthly cost or a network that dropped your doctor. A fresh comparison shows whether staying or switching makes more sense.
You avoid care because of the deductible
Putting off appointments because a high deductible isn't met yet is a sign the plan doesn't fit how you really use care.
Something in your life changed
A move, a marriage or turning 26 and leaving a parent's plan can each change what you qualify for and when enrollment opens.
How your consultation works
- 1
A first conversation
You call and we set a time that works for you. We ask about your situation, your timeline and what has frustrated you about coverage before.
- 2
Your options, compared
Your advisor pulls plans available in Pinellas County from several carriers and narrows them to the few that fit. You get a clear comparison with the real costs of using each one.
- 3
Your decision, your pace
We answer every question and never push you toward a plan. If you want time to think, take it.
- 4
Enrollment and follow-up
We help you complete the application, confirm your effective date and stay available for anything that comes up during the year.

What sets the cost of an individual plan
Marketplace plans can't raise your price because of a health condition, so a small set of fixed factors decides your premium. We walk through how each one changes your choices before you pick, so your first bill is what you expected.
- How old you are
- Under federal rules, an older adult can be charged as much as three times the young-adult rate for the same plan. This factor counts more the nearer you get to retirement age.
- Tobacco
- Tobacco users can face a carrier surcharge. We ask about it so your quotes reflect what you'll really pay.
- Metal tier and deductible
- Bronze has a smaller monthly payment but leaves more for you to pay before coverage kicks in. Gold costs more per month and less at the doctor's office. Silver tends to matter most when you qualify for added savings.
- Kind of network
- Smaller networks generally mean a lower monthly premium. Whether one suits you comes down to the doctors you want to keep seeing.
- What you earn
- Your income determines if you receive a premium tax credit and how much it is, and that can shift the monthly price by a lot.
Individual health insurance questions
Something not covered here? (727) 761-9134
Can I get an individual plan when it isn't open enrollment?
Usually, enrolling partway through the year requires a qualifying life event, like losing coverage from work, moving, marrying or turning 26. Open enrollment typically lasts from November into January. If you're not sure your situation qualifies, we can work it out together on the call.
Does a pre-existing condition change what I can get?
No Marketplace plan can turn you away or charge more because of a health condition. The bigger question is finding a plan with a network and drug list that match your needs, and that's where we put our effort.
Do you charge for your help?
No. The consultation costs nothing, and we're paid by the carrier you enroll with, not by you. You pay the same premium you would if you went to that carrier directly.
Will someone new answer every time I call?
No. A single advisor takes your questions, builds your comparison, handles enrollment and remains your contact after. Your situation only needs explaining once.
Do I have to come to the office to meet?
No. We meet at our office, by phone or by video, so clients in Clearwater, Seminole and Pinellas Park can choose what's most convenient.
What if my spouse or children also need a plan?
A family plan could be the better choice. Our Family Health Insurance page describes how we compare them, and we can review both options during one call.
